College & Young Adult Minister – Taylor Weston

Taylor Weston has been newly added to the Faith Church staff to serve those in the 18-30 age group.  Having recently graduated from college himself, he feels that he can easily relate to those who are experiencing the issues and questions associated with that stage of life.

“Once you graduate high school,” he says, “you begin to realize that, to some extent, you are on your own. No one’s making you go to church, clean up after yourself, or go to class. And that freedom can really mess with some people’s heads. If you don’t have a loving community of like-minded people that will help answer your questions and keep you accountable, it may be very difficult for you to make sense of life and what God wants for you.”

Taylor has many different kinds of experiences. He has worked as a concert promoter, as a manager, producer, engineer, sound technician, and booking agent for local bands, youth music director, stagehand, marketing and social media consultant, guitar teacher, and more. He has played, composed, and studied music for almost fifteen years, and has a BA in Speech with a Marketing Minor from the University of Central Arkansas.

“My interest in teaching the Word arises from the fact that  there is a lot of bad theology out there, and that the church as a whole hasn’t done enough in the past to combat it and get the truth of Scripture across to people. So, I wanted to be part of the solution to that problem. By carefully examining the contexts of history, geography, culture, and language of the Bible, we can much better understand what the biblical authors intended for us to understand.”
